Fall 2013 Wedding Dress Trends

This season, wedding dresses went demure. The big trends included cap sleeves, lace overlays and mermaid skirts. Intricate beading and hand-finished touches on gowns at Monique Lhuillier and Douglas Hannant told brides-to-be that these are heirloom-quality dresses you'd be proud to pass on to future generations.

What's your favorite wedding dress look from Fall 2013?

Coven Spring 2013 Focuses on the Chic Sailor Lifestyle

Published: Oct 16, 12 References: coven.br and trendland
The Brazilian fashion line created a fantastic array of nautical-themed apparel for the Coven Spring 2013 lookbook. Mixing the South American East Coast vibe clothing with a sailor-esque setting leaves the lookbook feeling authentic and pure. Photographer Gustavo Marx beautifully captures the simplicity of relaxation and the coveted ideology of vacation. Models Debora Muller and Lovani Pinnow beautifully capture the essence of the minimalist nautical lifestyle in just a couple snaps of camera.
By focusing the camera on certain angles, Marx is able to draw attention to certain prints and clothing styles. The white background brings attention to the colorful foreground on each shot, enhancing the beauty of the clothing. From simple prints to Mary Katrantzou-inspired ones, the line resembles the likes of a high fashion brand and print masters.

How to be stylish while trout fishing

Yesterday was such an amazing day here in Virginia,  when I read the temperature read 67 degrees we decided to go trout fishing at Douthat Sate Park. Douthat State Park is a state park located in the Allegheny Mountains in Virginia.  One of the things I adore about the park is the Civilian Conservation Corps developed and constructed the majority of the modern-day park system. The surrounding Bath County is really stunning this time of year and there are tons of hidden treasures to keep you busy if you love the county life.
I'm going to make a stark fashion confession here, right now. I use to live in camouflage pants hiking boots and sweaters. See the issue is I love the outdoors and most of the time settle for practical fashion choices, like jeans, fleece, sneakers. I am attempting to venture from my "old faithfuls" or old reliable.  You can see in my photos my ATTEMPT to be stylish while trout fishing. Main thing was to wear things that I wouldn't cry if they got fish guts or bird poop on. So I slapped on a super comfy pair of Old Navy rock star jeans on with my Wallis boots and scarf . A regular over sized white v neck and there you go.  After hiking a few trails yesterday I was glad I made an upgrade of footwear. At least if a timber rattler tried to bite my ankles my wallis boots would bring some protection.

Of course I couldn't resist putting together a look on Polyvore  : )

Day Tripping: Natural Bridge (Virginia)

My photographs from the day seen above.

"The Natural Bridge was a sacred site of the Native American Monacan tribe, who believed it to be the site of a major victory over pursuing Powhatans centuries before the arrival of whites in Virginia.
Some believe George Washington came to the site in 1750 as a young surveyor on behalf of Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron. To support claims that Washington surveyed the area, some tour guides claim the initials "G.W." on the wall of the bridge, 23 ft. up, were carved by the future president. Legend also has it that George Washington threw a rock from the bottom of Cedar Creek over the bridge. In 1927, a large stone was found, also engraved "G.W." and bearing a surveyor's cross, which historians accepted as proof that he indeed surveyed the bridge.
Thomas Jefferson purchased 157 acres (635,000 m²) of land including the Natural Bridge from King George III of England for 20 shillings in 1774. He called it "the most Sublime of nature's works". Jefferson built a two-room log cabin, with one room reserved for guests, beginning its use as a retreat. While President, in 1802, he surveyed the place with his own hands. It has been said that Jefferson was able to throw a stone from the ground below the bridge to the top. Many famous guests stayed here, including John Marshall, James Monroe, Henry Clay, Sam Houston, and Martin Van Buren.

Natural Bridge was one of the wonders of the new world that Europeans visited during the 18th and 19th centuries. Vacationing guests from all over the world took day trips from Natural Bridge on horseback or horse drawn carriages to explore the countryside. In 1833, a new owner erected the Forest Inn to accommodate the increasing number of people. The bridge had considerable notoriety during the 19th century. Herman Melville alluded to the bridge in describing Moby-Dick: "But soon the fore part of him slowly rose from the water; for an instant his whole marbleized body formed a high arch, like Virginia's Natural Bridge..." William Cullen Bryant, another American literary figure, said that Natural Bridge and Niagara Falls were the two most remarkable features of North America. During the 1880s Natural Bridge was a resort owned by Colonel Henry Parsons.

In 1927 a nocturnal lighting display of the arch and gorge was designed by Samuel Hibben and Phinehas V. Stephens, illuminating engineers with the Westinghouse Company. The display was formally switched on by President Calvin Coolidge in a 1927 inaugural ceremony. The original display has since been replaced with a sound and light show depicting the seven days of the Creation as described in Genesis."

Isabel Marant Spring 2013 Paris Fashion Week

"Once again, Isabel Marant has created a boho-tinged collection with looks that every cool girl will want in her wardrobe come spring. A black-and-white floral print covered shorts, spaghetti-strapped halters and knotted-midriff tops that seem perfect for throwing on after a day at the beach. Paisley and embroidery swirled across loose, flowy mini dresses and silk blouses. Pants were low-slung with embroidered flowers along the side-seams.

Which look is your favorite from Isabel Marant's Spring 2013 collection?"
